It's Been a While

Well it's only been what? Almost a month since my last post. Whoops! I know I don't really have any many followers so I wasn't missed too much but I feel back that I have wanted to get into blogging and I left this to the wayside for so long. I actually did try to make a few blog posts about what I think is necessary for a dorm room and one on forgiveness but I just didn't write them to completion. It may be a little late for the dorm post but one of forgiveness may be coming along as I work on that myself.

It's been a little crazy lately with my life: moving, moving, and more moving. I'm getting set up in my first apartment (whoa!) and making a space for myself. I absolutely love my new place. I have my own kitchen, bathroom, there's hardwood floors and just so. much. space. I lived in a "triple" dorm last year and I lived with two other girls in one room. I don't know what to do with myself right now. I'm sure this room will be packed sooner rather than later.

My classes begin on Monday and I'm excited but also content. I really do believe that I have discovered the path I'm meant to be on and will be extremely happy with a life in education. I can focus on my passion for history and English while also helping children and hopefully inspiring them to love those subjects as much as I do. I'm also excited to go back to class now that I've tried to research organization and study methods. I get to try them out soon! Woo! I went through high school really breezing through everything and didn't try too hard actually so this past year really kicked me in the butt. I didn't have the study skills needed to really exceed in a college course. I learned more my second semester after I got more into the groove but I still wasn't on top of my game. This will hopefully change this year. I'm not setting a goal like a 4.0 GPA for myself or something because I believe that grades don't truly measure the amount of knowledge one gains from a class, however, I do want to bring up my GPA and have a better sense of pride in my grades.

It may be a little while until I update, but I'm going to try to do a walk through of my apartment and room real soon. I'm still getting a few decorative touches up and determining where I want things like my school supplies and all that but I'm hopefully going to have all that done soon.

Happy new school year! It's going to be a good year.

Here's a glimpse of my little abode so far! I absolutely love my bedding.

Fun fact: Starfish don't have brains.

The journey of a thousand miles

Not to start off too cliché of anything but this is the beginning of my journey of a thousand steps.

I have admired Carly from The College Prepster (who is actually from Tampa like me!) and Carly from Chicago Prepster for ages. Whenever I read their posts I always think of what I would like to blog about and how fabulous my blog would be. So, I've decided to get off the couch (although I am blogging from the couch...) and start my own blog. I've gone through ideas like "Aldi Auditions," where I try out the generic brand foods from Aldi. But then I realize that I don't have an Aldi near where I live for most of the year. I also though about a cooking blog, but I honestly don't cook that creative meals all that often.

Instead, I'm blogging about my ramblings. Some days it will be a food blog, some days it'll be a clothing blog, or make up oriented. I'm a little all of the place in my interests -  this blog will just be a reflection of that.

This is a learning process, I'm still figuring out how to even manage a blog. But I hope to share my life and the comings and goings of a college student. I'm learning who I am, what I want to be, and more. I hope to offer some advice along the way and help anyone else out.

As I told my best friend, "ridiculousramblingsbyrachel.blogspot.com, it's gonna be big."

Anyone who knows me also knows that I have an abundance of fun facts. I am a fountain of useless information as my grandmother tells me. For the end of every post, I'll include a fun fact. Useless fun fact number one comes from my all-time favorite show: Friends was never taped in front of a live audience for episodes that were cliffhangers such as Ross's wedding to Emily.
